EcuTek Pro Tuner

EcuTek-logo

SZ is now an EcuTek Tuner for the 370Z\G37 & GTR.  EcuTek provides far superior abilities in tuning the factory Nissan ECUs than other current tuning software.  Maps that are not accessible by these other tuning suits can now be done so as well as the addition of custom maps to the existing factory Nissan ECU.

The ProECU Programming Kit can be used by car enthusiasts and owner clubs to both diagnose and program a wide variety of vehicles.  Purchasing the kit is not required to those coming to us for a tune.  The kits are available through a master tuner if needed for remote tuning purposes or ROM support.

370Z & G37 tuning support with the addition of EcuTek’s RaceRom features allows us to use a more simplified ignition timing strategy to have full control of timing while keeping all the safeguards of the knock control system.  Another big plus is the ability to have E85 fuel & ignition compensation with the addition of a flex fuel sensor.

RaceROM is a suite of feature enhancements available for OEM ECUs tuned with EcuTek tuning tools, which offers increased tuning & driving capabilities.

Without question, the OEM ECU offers the best cold start, drive-ability and refinement when compared to aftermarket ECU hardware. However, many aftermarket ECUs provide extra (generally motorsport related) features, that many enthusiasts desire. Unfortunately, when replacing the standard ECU with an aftermarket ECU, the refinement of the standard ECU is often lost.

Now with EcuTek RaceROM, this compromise is no longer necessary. By way of a software upgrade to the standard ECU, RaceROM adds many custom calibration options to the standard OEM ECU, offering features beyond the standard fueling, ignition and boost control, yet retaining its drive-ability, sophistication and fuel economy.

Note that due to technical limitations of some ECUs, it is not possible to provide all features on all vehicles.

The GTR tuning suite allows full control over all aspects of the ECU and the addition of RaceROM features like boost control, launch control tuning, map switching, visual knock warning, flex fuel, and conversion to speed density (MAP), and much more.

Nismo 370Z Bolt-On Upgrades

Aaron’s Nismo Z34 has Stillen Gen 3 Intakes, Fast Intentions Long-tube Headers, and Fast Intentions Catback.  Once all the upgrades were done a tune was in order to maximize the potential of the modifications.

Here’s the baseline (blue run) vs tuned (red run) performed in 4th gear.  Impressive gain of 26 torque and 26 whp at 5200RPMs.

Here’s the final run performed in 5th gear (1:1).  Most impressive peak power and torque!  334 whp and 277 torque.

G37 Sedan Tune

Craig from Vegas came down for a tune and we turned out to make some impressive numbers from the sedan.

dyno

Armed with just a catback, HFCs, and a Stillen Gen 3 Intake, all through the 7AT.  320 whp.

Greddy G37 Twin Turbo

Jonah brought over his 2010 G37 Coupe for some tuning.  He recently had the engine built with lower compression forged pistons and beefed up rods.

91 octane, we started running out of fuel beginning at this power\boost level. We should see 530+ whp once it has more fuel system.

G37 Sedan Header Results

We took a 2009 G37 Sedan, did a baseline dyno with no other mods and added a set of Stillen headers.

Some nice gains were had by just adding the headers, no tuning was done.

370Z Dyno Tuning Action

Just a tiny fraction of some of the dyno tuning on Z34s.

Winters NISMO

This black Z34 NISMO came to us in need of a few things.  The owner complained of high oil temps even with his 25 row aftermarket oil cooler in city driving.  We designed and fabbed up a nice worry free solution to this.  We upgraded to a Stillen Gen 3 Intake, tuned the Z, and finally upgrade the rear end gearing to 4.08s.  Everything went smoothly and all the upgrades made nice improvements in the Z’s daily activities.

We had a few hurdles to conquer.  The first was getting by the front (NISMO only) brace.  You can see it in this picture running along side the front of the oil cooler and behind the fan.  Done with a little magic 😉  We used a very high quality SPAL pusher fan controlled by a thermostatic switch.  We opted to go with an 190 degree ON.  So as soon as the oil temps hit 190 degrees, the fan will automatically turn itself on.  We installed the temp sensor for the oil control directly into the oil pan (bung welded).

Looks almost factory.

Short video of the fan running.

NISMO factory tune with only the Stillen Gen 3 for mods.  Already running extremely lean.  This would only get worse with an aftermarket exhaust.

Tuned run.

The owner of this NISMO is happy to report that with the e-fan mod the oil temps are much cooler.  Here’s what he had to say:

Wow. Just wow.  The fan works great! Driving around West LA yesterday in stop and go traffic the temp got to about 200. That is vs. the 220-230 that I would normally see in that traffic in 70 degree weather. At a long stop light the the temp (as you mentioned) went down. That little fan must really move some air.

The new final drive gearing also helped give more kick in the pants feel, accelerating the Z quicker.

Steve brought us his 370Z for some tuning.  We were impressed with the results needless to say.  Click on the graph to see it in its entirety.
