VQ35DE Exhaust Dyno Comparison

We had the opportunity to test out the new ART test pipes from Motordyne Engineering this past week.  The pipes are very interesting looking.  Based on the Helmholtz resonator design, one can theoretically have a quieter “open” exhaust system.  Our customer brought in his 2007 G35 for before and after dyno results.  I was a bit skeptical looking at them but after it was said and done I was pleasantly surprised!

The G already had on it aftermarket HFC (300 Cell) pipes in it so the gains to be had over stock are even higher.  NO OTHER changes were made, just the pipes.  We hopped in the car after the install and the customer confirmed they were as quiet sounding as the HFCs we pulled off!

The Dyno doesn’t lie, and in this case we confirmed additional power and torque to be had.  We saw consistent gains of 8-10 whp across the board and peak gain of a little over 8 whp.  A\F was pretty consistent between the two runs as well.  One thing to note is that the auto trans hard lines are real close to the resonator and will require some tweaking to get proper clearance.

Two thumbs up to Tony over at Motordyne!

Welcome to the Specialty-Z Blog!

Welcome to our very own blog.  Here you will find interesting little tid-bits, builds, dyno results, and Greg Dupree sharing his thoughts along with mine if your lucky.

Happy birthday Greg!

A little bit about our history, Greg was born into a family that lived cars.  His father taught him the workings of the combustion engine with the beginning of the mass market automobile itself, the Ford Model T.  Little Greg rebuilt his own engine by the age 10.  Between Model Ts and Zs, Greg built, tuned, and modified old muscle cars.  By 1982 Dupree began working on the Z Car.  Over 28 years of experience with just Z cars and over 46 years of combined mechanical knowledge.  Aside from mechanical knowledge passed down from his father, Don Dupree taught his son the importance of ethics, morals, and hard work.  For without the latter, pure skill still lacks life and care.  For Greg this is a passion not just a business.  If it were run as a pure business for pure profit we truly would lose the inspiration of the Z Car and its owners.  I, myself began working on cars at the age of 17.  Falling in love with the Z32 as a young boy.

In any case, we are honored to share our experience and designs with the community.  To those that do appreciate the hard work.

Specialty-Z is focused on providing you the best parts for your Z. We spend the majority of our time doing research on maximizing performance enhancements. While at the same time, making it convenient and fun for the end user to modify his or her Z-Car.
